  tall fences

What could that big tall fence be for? Is there a prison in there, or a zoo? No, it is just a golf course. I don't know whether it was for road safety or golfball safety, but I had never seen anything like this before. So here it is.
I assume that's the Golfsmith driving range because that's the only place I've seen a fence like that. I think it's for the safety of the cars considering that a driving range is a place where lousy golfers like me go to figure out why the ball keeps slicing (veering to the right) and how to stop it. That road is where a good (or really bad) slice would go.
i think it's fo safety in case the ball fly over
No, it's not Golfsmith; it's just the Lyons golf course between Enfield and Lake Austin. There's a long stretch there where the course runs parallel, and quite close to, Lake Austin Blvd., and believe you me, people would be getting hit.

I've always wondered how the city got away without doing the same thing on Red River next to Hancock; since I and many of my co-hackers have sent many a ball flying into traffic there.

A picture a day from the capital of slackerdom! (unless we had too many mango margaritas the night before). Always weird, sometimes wonderful... put on your flip-flops, grab a breakfast taco, and hop in the VW bus with us for a spin around town :)
